Cigarette smokers are looked down upon more and more in society each day. Smoking used to be allowed everywhere, from restraunts to airplanes, now it is barely allowed outdoors. On FGCU campus there are designated smoking areas, and they are even trying to get rid of those and make it a smoke free campus. Cigarettes are not illegal, they are a personal choice of lifestyle. Smokers are being treated like criminals almost. On campus if you are not in a designated smoking area, you will get a fine of $25 for your first offense. Anytime after that the dollar amount increases for each citation.

Blog #5 Carbon Footprint
A carbon footprint is the impact resources have on global warming from green house emissions. Every individual can make a difference in the carbon footprint by making little changes in their everyday life. Personally one way to reduce the carbon footprint is to take the stairs rather than the elevator. If i have to go up five flights of stairs, there is no reason to use the electricity to call the elevator and have it use more energy to go back up. If I have to go up to the twenty-fifth floor, i am going to use the elevator. If it isn't necessary I'm not going to waste resources. Not only am I conserving energy, I am helping myself out health wise.

Blog #4 Library Tutorial
In the tutorial for the library I learned about the database search engines. They have scholarly articles and peer reviewed journals, as well as e-books, unlike just searching in Google. Using the databases i know the information will be factual and strongly support the point I am trying to make.
I also was refreshed about plagarism. I already was aware of what plagirism was, and have always avoided anything with confusion of what may or may not be. If not sure, cite it! Plagirism can get you expelled from a university, then making it very difficult to get into any other university. Just do your own work, otherwise your whole future can be ruined.
Three things I didn't know were:
1) how to use the database to find "general information"
2) The skunk ape existed
3) saving books to a folder in the library to find it later on

Blog #3 FIRE
Sitting on fold up camping chairs surrounding a crackling fire in a fire pit made of large rocks is so relaxing. Hanging out around a fire on a cool starry night, there isn't anything better. The scent of burning tree limbs brings back childhood memories. The embers drifiting up into the dark night sky like little fireflies. The flame dancing up and down, and slowly swaying side to side with the slight breeze. Almost as if it had life. A fire is so beautiful, but if it isn't controlled it can destroy other beauty creating a burnt lifeless scene.

The first week of school was extremely hot, but I made it through without a problem. We were assigned to write two different letters. One to a friend, and one to the editor of Eagle News. Depending on your audience, it changes your tone and writing style.
One of the first assignments in class was to write an informal letter to your best friend. The guidelines were to free write a letter about the first week of school, as if you were really writing them a note. When the audience is a friend/peer you are more likely to just write in a style that is the quickest and most attractive to you. When I write I don't like to have many grammatical errors, or use slang.
The letter to the editor wasn't much different to my letter to Rebecca, except for the fact I didn't care to have a response from the editor. I didn't use proper punctuation throughout the letter to Rebecca, but I did when I wrote to the editor.
Depending on your audience and purpose, it can change the whole style and point trying to be made about the piece.

All About ME ... in a nutshell :)
My name is Caroline Rousselot, and I’m 19 years old. I was born in Amityville, New York, but moved to Boca Raton, Florida when I was two years old. My parents have been happily married for twenty-two years, and I have a younger sister named Kristi, my family is very important to me because no matter the circumstances family will never leave your side. My boyfriend, Nick, and I have been together just over a year now, he moved over to Fort Myers from Boca Raton to be closer to me. Besides loving my family, I LOVE animals, I have two dogs, a guinea pig, and a ferret; If I had the financial income to support a happy life for more pets, I would probably have hundreds.
I graduated from West Boca High School in May 2009. At West Boca I was in the culinary arts academy. I love to cook, though becoming a chef isn’t my first choice as a career. At Florida Gulf Coast University I am studying psychology. Psychology blows my mind, and I am very passionate about learning all the unbelievable things that the subject has to offer. Once I graduate I either want to pursue a career as a clinical psychologist in a mental institution, or become a drug and alcohol therapist. If that doesn’t work out for me, a pastry chef is my second choice of work. It’s always good to have a back up plan. I am looking forward to this Fall semester with everyone!
